About

My name is Marc, I'm 24 and wasting my life.

I'm a polyglot, poker player and liberal who's too cynical for my own good. Lapsed Lawyer, now working in iGaming. Slightly obnoxious. Last 2 things not related.

Read my disclaimer about working in iGaming.

I post alot at Newcastle Poker. You should too.

This blog will mainly be about my poker exploits, plus anything else that springs to mind.

Online, I play a mix of cash and smaller MTTs and my biggest score has been winning ~$3000 in a FTOPS LHE 6max Shootout for placing decently after satting in for about 100FTPs. That's where it all started for me, playing limit poker and reading pretty much everything I could about the game. These days, there's very little that hasn't already been said about limit so I don't play so much, but coming from that game probably gives me an edge in mixed games as I have a pretty keen understanding of the value of a single big bet; which seems to be something that many online mixed game players don't get.

After playing on the internets for small stakes LHE, I withdrew my modest bankroll at 18 and went on holiday before I started university and blew the lot. Life tilt. At Uni, a friend and I deposited $25 each into a shared account on Victor Chandler (back when it was decent) and over 18 months we made about $2000 each by playing heads up tourneys. At the time you could say that I was a heads up specialist for sure.

Now I've discovered that I prefer live play than on the internets where everyone seems to want to be the next durrrrr and say HU4ROLLZ every time they get outplayed. Boring.

I stick to the local games in Newcastle mainly, but over the past year I've developed my live game and fixed a lot of the leaks that internet players have coming to a live game and my game has improved ten fold. The first year I played live I didn't make a penny, but last year I managed to make a modest profit, only a couple of hundreds of pounds but at least I've stopped paying learners tax It means a decent amount to be able to say that I'm a winning player online and on the internets.

From now, I plan to play more regularly and would like to make £2500 this year from live play, but we'll see. I'll prolly also take a couple of shots at some of the larger games in Nottingham/London/wherever. That's the aim anyway, I'll have to improve first.

Update: Winning £2000 in the G Club Championships should mean I get there for my goal this year.

Update 2: It'll be a while till I'm playing in Newcastle again, as I moved to Gibraltar for a new job in November 2010.

tl;dr:
I play poker, I'm fairly ok. Doing alright. Got plans to be better.
